This has got to be one of the funnier zoo commercials. I have seen another version of same commercial where the zebra fakes a leg injury.

Wow! Has it really been since October since I posted. LB and I got back from seeing Radiohead in concert. Here is a pic. Pretty amazing show.

Hot and humid
July 20th, 2007Been a hot week. Conducted a bunch of interviews this week. Played some crappy golf in the rain. Today weather was more like September than July. Busy day at the park. LB left with LG to Florida. Sent me a pic from her phone. 
Got a lot of animal stuff done this week. Animals coming and animals going. Designed a LSS for two 400 gallon systems.
Busy week
July 15th, 2007We had a pretty busy week at the zoo. Sedated a Asian Wild horse and our lion for medical procedures on the same day. Donna turned 56 on Saturday and 1,700 people came out to celebrate. Getting finalized on interviews to conduct for open zookeeper position. Hired a registrar. Congrats to DD who will be starting in a few months.
More glass up on Amazonia. Grounds crew has caught up with site as far as planting. New trees for parking lot planters should be coming in zoo to go in the ground. Rockwork artist arrived this week to start on carving and painting of rockwork. The classroom building and the entry foyer are looking good. 
We got a whole truck of driftwood from down south. Custom fiberglass fish tanks arrived from Texas. These are for behind the scenes holding tanks and we will be designing and purchasing life support equipment to get these up and running in the next few weeks.

Update
July 9th, 2007Amazonia is moving pretty fast. Cemrock has been on site for almost 3Â months now. They are moving pretty fast. A lot of the mechanical, plumbing and electrical is getting to the final connections and equipment. The tapir and mixed species pools are getting their final shape now. Building glass is within 3 weeks of being done. Landscaping is moving fast PB and his crew are getting lots in the ground before the heat hits.
We are finalizing floor plans on re-designed entry building and hope to have that out to bid in the next month or so.
With the hot weather we are kind of in a lag on animal acquisitions. We will be ramping up again in fall with more arriving in early spring. Latest additions have been the Emerald tree boa, jaguar and capybara with stingrays in the next few weeks.
